TRIO OF UMEDIA FILMS SELECTED FOR THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

I KILL GIANTS, SUBMERGENCE, AND JOURNEY’S END ALL TO PREMIERE AT THE FESTIVAL

Los Angeles, CA (September 5, 2017) – Umedia announced today that for the first time in fourteen years of filmmaking, three of its productions have been selected at one time to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

I Kill Giants starring Zoe Saldana, Madison Wolfe, and Imogen Poots, produced with Chris Columbus, and directed by Academy Award® Winner Anders Walter will be presented in the Discovery program. Wim Wenders’ Submergence starring Alicia Vikander and James McAvoy, and Journey’s End starring Sam Claflin, Paul Bettany and Asa Butterfield will both feature as Special Presentations.

Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Joe Kelly and Ken Niimura, I Kill Giants tells the story of a teenage who struggles through school and family life by escaping into a fantasy world of magic and monsters. Umedia is producing and financing the project with Chris Columbus’ 1492 Pictures / Ocean Blue Entertainment, along with Kim Magnusson, Kyle Franke, Man of Action Entertainment and XYZ Films which is also handling the international sales. The project is backed by Ingenious and obtained the support of both screen.brussels and Screen Flanders. Umedia’s VFX division handled the visual effects.

Submergence is a globe-trotting romance about a water engineer and a deep-sea researcher striving to reconnect although separated by oceans, continents and civil war. The film is a European co-production structured by Backup Films between France, Germany, Spain and Belgium and produced by Cameron Lamb. Umedia co-produced, handling Belgian financing and production.

Journey’s End is a tense drama about a group of British soldiers awaiting a massive German offensive during the First World War, in this new adaptation of R.C. Sherriff’s classic play. The production is financed by the BFI, Fluidity Films, British Film Company, Metro International, Ingenious, The Welsh Government’s Media Investment Budget and Umedia. Metro International Entertainment is handling worldwide sales.
