Cheyenne Federation and Umedia Join Forces to Support Emerging Belgian Filmmakers

Cheyenne Federation and Umedia are proud to announce the launch of a strategic partnership aimed at developing debut and sophomore feature films by emerging Belgian talents.

This structural collaboration marks a new chapter in the history of both companies, reinforcing their shared ambition: to support a new generation of French-speaking filmmakers from the earliest stages of creation.

The partnership will take the form of a development slate, with the goal of sourcing 3 to 4 projects starting this year. The initiative will provide writers and directors with dual territorial support, combining Cheyenne Federation’s expertise in France with Umedia’s in Belgium. Talents will benefit from a comprehensive ecosystem, blending artistic guidance, cross-border funding opportunities, and extensive distribution networks—from development through post-production.

The alliance is built on a well-established relationship of trust between the two partners, illustrated by several recent collaborations. Cheyenne Federation co-produced with Umedia the film Classe Moyenne by Antony Cordier, presented this Monday at the 2025 Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. Other joint projects include the action series B.R.I and Anna et les enfants, a family comedy directed by Diane Clavier, which will begin filming in Belgium on July 7.

With this joint initiative, Cheyenne Federation and Umedia aim to build a sustainable and ambitious support strategy, focused on original stories and bold cinematic visions. The shared editorial line will favor high-potential French-language projects, conceived from the outset with an international coproduction approach and synergies between the two territories.

More concretely, project sourcing will be primarily conducted from Belgium by Umedia’s teams, while the development of selected projects will be carried out in close collaboration between the French and Belgian teams, allowing creators to fully benefit from the combined expertise of both structures.

According to Bastien Sirodot, CEO of Umedia:
“We’ve worked with Julien Madon for over ten years. This alliance with Cheyenne Federation is both natural and exciting—it marks a new stage in accelerating our development goals and establishing a true space for Belgian talents.”

Julien Madon and Aimée Buidine add:
“With numerous projects in development in France, we are proud to open our doors to new Belgian talents through our long-standing partner, Umedia.”
