Ewilan's Quest, Yugly, Blooming Wonders and Jim Queen will be presented in the 2026 Annecy Animated Film Festival.

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival is in full swing, and we are proud to be a part of this prestigious celebration of animation.

This year, four Umedia co-productions have been selected for the festival, which will take place from June 21 to 27.

🔸 Yugly is selected as opening movie of the “Annecy Présente” category

Yugly is a kind-hearted dog who dreams of competing in a dog beauty contest. Despite his unconventional appearance, he is ready to face all obstacles to make his dream come true and, maybe, finally find the human who will truly love him for life.

Directed by Yanis Belaid and Jérémie Degruson, produced by nWave Studios and Octopolis, in co-production with Umedia (financed via the Tax Shelter), with the support of Screen Brussels.

“Yugly” is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 7.

🔸 Ewilan’s Quest: the episode “Sur la route” is selected in the category “Film de télévision”

Adapted from Pierre Bottero’s bestselling fantasy novels, “Ewilan’s Quest” is an animated series following a young girl who is suddenly transported to the magical world of Gwendalavir, where she discovers that she is the heir to a unique power capable of changing the fate of the world.

A series directed by Fabien Daphy, Eve Ceccarelli and Justine Mettler, produced by Andarta Pictures, in co-production with Umedia (financed via the Tax Shelter), Vivi Film Belgium and L’incroyable Studio, with the support of screen.brussels.

“Ewilan’s Quest” is available on RTBF Auvio and Okoo France TV since February 14.

🔸 Blooming Wonders: the episode “Le Bananier” is selected in the category “Films de télévision”

Patouille is a wonderful little creature who lives in harmony with plants. Alongside her friend Momo, she discovers the incredible characteristics of the natural world. Through the adventures of Patouille and Momo, children aged 3 to 7 are encouraged to develop empathy for the environment and learn more about the world around them.

A series directed by Clémentine Campos, Mélody Boulissière and Inès Bernard-Espina, produced by Miyu Productions, in co-production with Umedia and with the support of screen.brussels.

“Blooming Wonders” is available on Okoo France TV since May 13.

🔸 Jim Queen will screen during the “Animated Thrills & Chills” programme

When Heterosis, a mysterious virus that turns gay men heterosexual, strikes Paris’s gay community, Jim, king of the Gym Queens, goes from Pride superstar to outcast. Alongside Lucien, a young twink recently out of the closet, he must find a cure before the disease wipes out the community that once adored him.

A feature film directed by Marco Nguyen and Nicolas Athané, produced by Bobbypills, in co-production with Umedia, RTBF and RTBF Auvio, with the support of Wallimage.

“Jim Queen” has been presented this year in the Cannes Film Festival’s Midnight Screenings section and is now playing in French theaters since June 17, with a Belgian theatrical release on June 24.

Congratulations to all the teams who contributed to these projects. We are proud to see their talent and creativity highlighted during the Annecy Festival, during which these works will have the opportunity to connect with an international audience of animation enthusiasts and shine on the big screen.
